"I think the whole match was actually very tough and physical. Even the games I won, I felt like I had to work hard for it. She played really well. Got a lot of balls back and she was reading some of my shots well in the first set".

Bacsinszky was trailing Bouchard 4-1 at one stage in the opening set, before slamming on 10 straight games and taking the contest from the Canadian's grip. Bouchard attacked late, but the damage had been done.
"She expected me to put a lot of variation in my game, so I had to find another game plan in order to get the upper hand", Bacsinszky said after the match.
"It was just a matter of adaptation. And when I managed to change my game plan, my tactics, my game intentions, things went differently. So I got the upper hand slowly but surely until the start of the second set".
Bacsinszky will now take on Pauline Parmentier in the third round.
