But who had the best year?
That’s where you come in… Below is a quick synopsis of all 10 contenders for Eurosport’s British Star of the Year award.
Once you’ve made up your mind, simply head to the below link to cast your vote!

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne (British Superbikes)

‘Shakey’ cemented his place as the greatest rider in British Superbikes history with a record sixth title in 2017.
The 41-year-old overhauled championship leader Leon Haslam in an exhilarating end to the season, sneaking to the top of the standings in the final race at Brands Hatch after his rival suffered a brake failure.

Elise Christie (Short track speed skating)

Christie bounced back from a disastrous Winter Olympics in 2014 – which saw her penalised in all three events – to become triple world champion at the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships.
The 27-year-old heads to Pyeongchang, South Korea, as Britain’s best medal prospect…

Tom Daley (Diving)

Daley put his Olympic disappointment behind him with a fearless victory at the World Championships.
The 23-year-old secured 10m platform gold with a total that would have won in Rio.

Mo Farah (Athletics)

Farah may have seen a six-year unbeaten run at major championships ended at the final hurdle in London, losing in the 5,000m to Ethiopia's Muktar Edris, but he was still GB’s only individual world medallist.
He bowed out with an outrageous sprint finish victory in his final race in Zurich and now switches to the road to pursue marathon domination.

Chris Froome (Cycling)

Froome secured a first Tour de France-La Vuelta double since 1978 – cementing his place among cycling’s greats.
And it could get even better. The Team Sky rider is bidding to hold all three Grand Tour jerseys at the same time by winning the Giro d’Italia in 2018.

Johanna Konta (Tennis)

Konta won the Miami Open and reached the Wimbledon semi-finals in a brilliant year, which saw her soar to fourth in the WTA rankings in July.
Her next task: rediscover her blistering form and challenge for a maiden Grand Slam next year…

Adam Peaty (Swimming)

Peaty won two gold medals at the FINA World Championships in Budapest, becoming the first man to break the 26-second barrier in the 50m breaststroke (long course) in the process.
The Olympic champion is now the most successful male British swimmer at World Championships with five global titles.

Jonathan Rea (World Superbikes)

Jonathan Rea finished the World Superbikes campaign with a record 556 points as he secured 16 victories in a dominant season.
He boasts three successive titles and will be the man to beat again next year.

Ronnie O'Sullivan (Snooker)

Mark Selby might be world number one and the reigning world champion but O'Sullivan has been in blistering form, winning three of the past five ranking events.
O'Sullivan has cemented his GOAT claims with wins at the Masters and UK Championship in 2017, as well as passing 900 career centuries, while Selby's form has faltered of late.
