Peter Fill's long wait for a second World Cup win is finally over after he took victory in a disrupted men's downhill in Kitzbuehel, Austria.
The Italian picked up his maiden World Cup win at the Lake Louise downhill in 2008, but waited 2,611 days to record his second, beating the previous record of 2,555 days held by Bruno Kernen.
The long-awaited victory arrived after the classic men's downhill was curtailed early due to poor visibility which caused three serious crashes among only 30 starters.
Pre-race favourites Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway and Hannes Reichelt of Austria were both thrown off the bumpy Hausbergkante and landed in the safety netting while fellow Austrian Georg Streitberger tore ligaments in his right knee after also going out on the saem spot.
Fill was leading from Swiss duo Beat Feuz and Carlo Janko with a time of 1:52.37 minutes when the race was cancelled with 27 races having not yet started.
