Alexis Pinturault recorded his 19th World Cup victory in Adelboden on Saturday, to become the most successful French skier in the event's history.
Pinturault, winning his fifth World Cup podium place of the season, clocked a total time of 2:23.99, with Austria's Marcel Hirscher placing second in a thrilling finish, 0.04 seconds behind.
Hirscher's teammate Philipp Schoerghofer placed third, 1.94 seconds back to collect his first World Cup medal of the season.
Olympic bronze medallist Pinturault's victory saw him surpass Jean-Claude Killy as the most successful Frenchman in World Cup history.
Hircher's second place finish - his 100th World Cup podium - was enough to consolidate his place atop the World Cup standings on 833 points, 268 points ahead of Pinturault.
