Heading to Val d'Isere, Pinturault – the bronze medallist from Sochi 2014 – was locked at the top of the giant slalom standings with Austrian Marcel Hirscher.
But the Frenchman now leads the way as he backed up his win in the opening event with another fastest time, crossing the line in 2:02.62 minutes.
This was 0.33 seconds faster than defending World Cup champion Hirscher, and Pinturault is now on 260 points in the giant slalom standings, 20 ahead of the Austrian.
However Hirscher leads the overall World Cup standings on 360 points, with the table reversed as Pinturault is second on 284.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen was third in Val d'Isere in 2:04.12 to complete the podium.
