Titled ‘The Meet', the event will be held on July 23 and will feature Britain's best athletes going head to head against their American counterparts across running, jumping, hurdles and relays.
Athletes will score points for their respective countries in nine events with the format and name of the athletes taking part announced early next year.
Adam Gemili, a member of the men's 4x100m relay team which pipped America to gold at the recent World Championships at the same London venue, was already building up the competitive edge to proceedings.
He said: "We have a great sporting rivalry and look forward to seeing which nation comes out strongest."
Niels de Vos, chief executive of British Athletics, added: "The Meet' will provide audiences with a fantastic head-to-head match between British Athletics and USA Track & Field, and promises to be one of the biggest events in athletics in 2018.
"We are delighted to host Team USATF here in London, in an event that will excite spectators in the best athletics stadium in the world.
"This event will thrill a whole new generation of athletics fans who have attended the London Stadium in their hundreds of thousands for the Muller Anniversary Games, World Para Athletics Championships and IAAF World Championships."
