Bolt exclusive: 'Triple triple' in Rio would be my greatest achievement
Updated 13/08/2016 at 14:40 GMT
Usain Bolt believes securing an unprecedented Olympic ‘triple triple’ at this summer’s Games in Rio would be his greatest ever achievement.
Bolt, who took gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at both the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Olympics, is aiming to keep his perfect record intact in Brazil.
The 29-year-old is targeting another stunning trio of wins and says achieving the feat in Rio would top what he has already accomplished.
"I have had a great career so far but I want to keep winning medals,” Bolt told Eurosport.
"As I always say I never focus on any one individual. I respect all my opponents but I know if I am fit and healthy that I will be very hard to beat.
To win the triple triple would be my greatest achievement.
'Not thinking about retirement'
As for whether the Olympics in Rio will potentially be his final major competition, Bolt made it clear that he is not able to even think about retirement at this stage, even if he does have a plan in place for his future beyond athletics.
"Right now I am not even thinking about this,” Bolt said of his retirement plans.
"I have my business interests, I have the Usain Bolt Foundation - I will continue to be an ambassador for some of my sponsors. I will keep busy.”
Footballers - not THAT fast
Aside from the persistent retirement talk, Bolt says he found reports that Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin could run 40m faster than him amusing, if a bit ridiculous.
"These stories make me laugh,” Bolt said.
"Footballers are very fast over the first 10-20m - that is what they train for. I train to be fast over 100m or 200m.
I have not heard of any footballer who can break 10 seconds for the 100m.
What's happened to United?
As for Bolt's beloved Manchester United, he has not been too impressed with what Louis van Gaal's side have had to offer of late.
"As a Manchester United fan, we are used to watching attacking, entertaining, winning football," Bolt said.
"We haven’t seen much of either this season."
