Unics Kazan replace Dynamo

Unics Kazan, who finished top of the ULEB Cup regular season in 2005-06, will replace fellow Russian club Dynamo St. Petersburg this season. The bankrupt Dynamo squad were thrown out of the Russian League one day before the start of the season.

Unics was the next best ranked team in the Russian league last season, losing in the semi-finals of the league tournament.

The squad joins Crvena Zvezda of Serbia, Real Madrid of Spain, Dexia-Mons of Belgium, EiffelTowers of Holland and PAOK of Greece in Group D.

They host Dexia-Mons in their first game of the season on October 31.

Unics went 9-1 in the ULEB Cup last year for the top regular season record among 24 teams, but lost both of its games in the opening elimination round.
