Joy saw 90 British athletes win canoeing medals on the world and European stage, his first year in charge of the organisation.
Wainwright joined British Basketball on an interim basis in October 2016 and continues to hold the position, with both the men's and women's side trying to secure Eurobasket and World Cup qualification.
Sarah Treseder of the RYA was re-appointed to the board and all three will serve a four-year term, with Wainwright and Joy replacing two departing members.
David Sparkes, formerly of British Swimming, steps down as does Seoul hockey gold medallist Richard Leman.
And Sir Hugh Robertson, who replaced Lord Sebastian Coe as chairman a year ago, insisted the newcomers will play a crucial role with PyeongChang and Tokyo on the horizon.
"Both Lisa and David will bring considerable experience across a range of Olympic sports to the newly constituted Board," he said.
"We are delighted they will be joining us at an exciting time for the Olympic movement in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, with the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018 nearly upon us and with our planning already at an advanced stage for Tokyo 2020.
"Sarah Treseder has played an integral role at board level in the successful governing of the BOA and we are pleased to retain her services as a sports representative with considerable business and corporate experience."
And after 34 years spent in service to the National Olympic Committee, former LTA secretary John James was made an honorary life vice president of the BOA.
