Laura Dahlmeier created women's mass start history in Hochfilzen on Sunday by claiming a fifth gold medal of the World Championships this season.
The German made the most of her experience to move clear of American Susan Dunklee in the final kilometre of the race, all after she had she shot a clean round, to win by 4.6 seconds.
Dahlmeier had already enjoyed a triumphant week in Austria, with 10km pursuit and women's team relay glory just a small part of a record-breaking week on the snow.
It was Dunklee who had initially cleaned up first in the closing stages, not quite doing enough to hold onto the lead, though she was not to be too downhearted by achieving her first ever medal, 4.6 seconds behind the 23-year-old.
The Bronze medal went to fast-finishing Kaisa Makarainen of Finland, with one penalty, 20.1 seconds back.
But the day was all about Dahlmeier, with this her 11th successive WCH medal, with her only non-gold of the competition still seeing her take home silver.
"Susan and I had this little game on each loop; she was faster on the shooting range and then I would catch her on the big hill," said Dahlmeier,
"On the last loop was the same. I had good material and was able to go 100% on that hill."
"The 11th medal in a row is great but it was not on my mind today."
