There was no place like home for Codie Bascue after the American notched his maiden World Cup race win in impressive fashion at Lake Placid.

Pilot Codie Bascue of the USA competes with Brent Fogt, Luis Moreira and Adrian Adams in the 4-man Bobsleigh during the BMW IBSF World Cup Bob & Skeleton PyeongChang Presented by JIN AIR 2017 at Alpensia Sliding Centre on March 19, 2017 in Pyeongchang-gu

Consistency of ice conditions ensured this was the second two-man bobsleigh of the event in the season opener, with the four-man racing unable to go ahead due to the warm conditions.
And Bascue certainly made the second wind count, standing atop the podium after stopping the clock in a time of 1:51.73 with his pilot, Samuel McGuffie.
That was enough to take a narrow win over Canada's Justin Kripps and Alexander Kopacz, 0.11s back, while bronze fell the way of fellow Americans Justin Olsen and Evan Weinstock.
For Olsen, this was a first podium finish as pilot, following in his double World Championship gold in 2009 and 2012 when acting as a brakeman.
But he and Weinstock couldn't do enough to usurp Bascue and McGuffie, while World Championships silver medallist Kripps also had to make do with another second-place finish.
Nico Walther had taken the honours in the first two-man event of the weekend, but he couldn't repeat his trick as only a ninth-place finish with brakeman Kevin Kuske was to come this time around.
