Elana Meyers Taylor half way to world title glory

Elana Meyers Taylor got her World Championships off to a perfect start in Winterberg with the American taking the lead after two runs.

The bob racer was fastest down run one with partner Cherrelle Garrett when the pair recorded 56.65 and clocked an almost identical time on run two with 56.64 for a combined total of 1:53.29.
Germany's Cathleen Martini was closest to the American after the first run when she clocked 56.82, teammate Anja Scheiderheinze third with 57.00.
The Germans switched positions however after run two with Scheiderheinze producing a solid 56.68 while Martini could only manage 56.82.
While the Americans lead there will be three German teams within striking range when the competition resumes as Stefanie Szczurek occupies fourth with a combined time of 1:54.09 – 0.8 seconds back on Meyers Taylor.
It was a less fruitful day for the British teams as Mica McNeill could only manage a 12th place finish and Victoria Olaoye further back in 16th.
