Friedrich and Margis on top in Altenberg

The German duo were second after the first run after putting down a time of 55.92 while Austrian duo Oskars Melbardis and Daumants Drieskens led the way with 55.80. It was all change during run two however as the Germans posted 56.64 to take the lead and the Austrians couldn't reply as their time of 57.22 left them with a final time of 1:53.02 – 0.58 behind Friedrich and Margis.

South Korea's Yunjong Won and Youngwoo Seo rounded off the podium places but were a fraction away from second after clocking 1:53.04.

There were some strong finishes for the rest of the Germans with Maximilian Arndt and Kevin Kuske sharing fourth with Nico Walther and Christian Poser after both duos finished on 1:53.23.

For Great Britain, Lamin Deen and Joel Fearon finished in 14th while Oliver Biddulph and Jordan Smallin were 23rd after only posting one run.
