Friedrich to the fore in Whistler

German Francesco Friedrich won the first two-man World Cup bobsleigh race of the season in Whistler, Canada.
The three-time world champion and brakeman Thorsten Margis recorded the best time in both heats to come home in 1:44.21 minutes.
That meant that Swiss duo Rico Peter and Thomas Amrhein had to settle for second, 0.46 behind, whiledefending World Cup champions Yunjong Won and his brakeman Youngwoo Seo of South Korea finished in third, 0.48 seconds behind the Germans.
Their was also more for the Korean team to celebrate as Donghyun Kim and Junglin Jun finished sixth, the best World Cup result of their careers.
As for the Brits, Lamin Deen and Judah Simpson were 18th with a time of 1:45.89, while Bruce Tasker and Samuel Blanchet were on place further back.
