Francesco Friedrich recorded his first World Cup win in the four-man bobsleigh as Germany secured all of the places on the podium at the season opener in Altenberg.
Friedrich was pushed by Jannis Backer, Martin Putze and Thorsten Margis as they finished 0.09 seconds ahead of second-placed Nico Walther, Marko Hubenbecker, Christian Poser and Eric Franke.
World champion Maximilian Arndt and his team of Kevin Kuske, Kevin Korona and Ben Heber were third, 0.24 seconds off the pace-setters.
It means Friedrich leads the standings on 225 points, Walther has 210 and Arndt is on 200.
Friedrich, who finished fifth in the 2014/15 overall World Cup standings, said: “It’s a lot worse if you make a mistake in the four-seater, but it went perfectly on the lower part of the track in the second run.
“At last we’ve won our first World Cup victory in the four-man event.”
