Humphries wins on home ice as Brits register historic fifth

Kaillie Humphries and Melissa Lotholz notched their second win of the season on home ice in Whistler as Britain's duo registered their best result in eight years.

Micas McNeill and Moore finished joint fifth in Canada having slipped down from third after the first run.
Humphries and Lotholz now lead the overall World Cup standings on 660, with America's Jamie Greubel Poser second on 627 having finished runner up in Whistler.
Elana Meyers Taylor finished third and is now just 17 points behind her compatriot in the World Cup, with Germany's Mariama Jamanka fourth in both Whistler, and overall.
Canada's Humphries finished almost half a second ahead of Greubel Poser, with Meyers Taylor a further 0.35s back.
Jamanka was a second down on the leader while Russia's Nadezhda Sergeeva and Mica McNeill were tied in fifth, 1.32s adrift.
The result was the best for a British duo since Nicola Minichiello and Gillian Cooke finished third in January 2009.
And it could have been better had they not registered only the 13th fastest time in their second run, but Moore was nonetheless pleased with their performance.
"I'm so happy with the result," said Moore, who celebrated her 25th birthday on Thursday.
"We're so grateful for all the support the public have given us and for all the hard work and support from the coaching team and staff out here with us. Hopefully, we can continue to progress throughout the season."
