Kasjanov claims first World Cup win

Russia’s Alexander Kasjanov recorded his first World Cup win in the four-man bobsleigh with victory in Park City, USA.

The silver medallist from the 2015 European Championships was joined at the top of the podium by his team-mates Ilvir Huzin, Alexei Pushkarev and Aleksey Zaytsev after what was the first World Cup win for a four-man Russian team since January 2013.World champion Maximilian Arndt and his German crew of Kevin Korona, Alexander Rödiger and Ben Heber finished just 0.04 seconds behind to come second.
The Swiss team of Rico Peter, Simon Friedli, Thomas Amrhein and Fabio Badraun were third, 0.22 seconds off Kasjanov.
It means that after five of this season’s eight World Cup races, Arndt and his German team top the overall standings on 1055 points, having extended their lead in Park City.
His fellow countryman Francesco Friedrich is second on 986, after coming seventh in Park City, and Peter is third on 968.
