The German team of Arndt, Martin Putze, Ben Heber and Kevin Korona recorded a total of 1:49.70 after finishing top in both runs with times of 54.49 and 55.21.
It was Team Arndt’s first gold of the season and their fourth podium finish of the World Cup campaign after their finishing third in the opening race in Altenberg and second in Winterberg and Königssee.
The Russian team of Alexander Kasjanov, Alexei Pushkarev, Ilvir Huzin and Aleksey Zaytsev – who came second in the World Cup standings last season - won their first silver of the current campaign after coming 0.28 seconds behind.
Justin Kripps of Canada, pushed by Alexander Kopacz, Derek Plug and Ben Coakwell, made the podium for the first time after coming third, 0.37 seconds further back
Great Britain’s Lamin Deen, John Baines, Joel Fearon and Andrew Matthews enjoyed their best World Cup result to date by coming fourth after missing out on the podium by just 0.04 seconds. It all means that at the halfway stage, Team Arndt lead the overall standings on 845 points, with the previous leader Francesco Friedrich, of Germany, who finished sixth in Lake Placid, on 818 points and Switzerland’s Rico Peter third on 768.
