Defending World Cup holder Jamie Greubel Poser continued exactly where she left off after taking her first win of the Olympic season in Park City.
The win takes the American to second in the overall World Cup standings, with brakewoman Lauren Gibbs helping the World Championship bronze medallist to top spot on the podium.
That was ahead of Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries and Melissa Lotholz, finishing one tenth of a second behind the winning Greubel Poser time of 1:40.72.
Elana Meyers Taylor and Lolo Jones took third place on the podium, but with the Americans winning both races on the day, they were to prove the undoubted victors on home ice.
Stephanie Schneider and Lisa Marie Buckwitz celebrated fourth place, while there was more home success as Brittany Reinbolt and brakewoman Aja Evans finished one place below after two consistent runs.
Despite only claiming second this time around, Humphries still leads the World Cup standings with 435 points, 18 ahead of Greubel Poser while Meyers Taylor rounds off the top three after two races.
