By Paul Upham: Davey Browne won the vacant IBF Pan Pacific youth and interim WBC world youth featherweight titles with a ten round unanimous points decision over Thai Tor Silachai on Friday night at The Cube in Campbelltown, Australia headlining a Fenech Fight Night promoted by Grange Old School Boxing.
“I trained really hard,” said Browne. “It was a tough fight. I expected him to come out firing. Hopefully in the future, I can get a shot at the WBC world title and get some fights in America.”
The taller 21 year-old Browne 14-0-1 (4) was less aggressive than his usual style and worked consistently on the outside, picking off 23 year-old Tor Silachai 10-2 (6) from Thailand.
Judges scored the fight for Browne by scores of 98-92, 100-91 and 99-91.
In the main support bout, “Deadly” Rob Medley made short work of New Zealand based Indian Harry Venka, knocking him out with a sharp flurry at the 1:53 minute mark of round 2
IBO middleweight champion Daniel Geale was originally scheduled to headline the card, but four opponents pulled out against him over the last two weeks.
