Olympics Rio 2016: 'I've made history!' - Nicola Adams wins second Olympic gold

The 33-year-old becomes the first woman in history to win two Olympic golds and joins a short list of all boxers to have successfully defended their titles.

"It feels absolutely amazing. I've made history," she said.

"I'm going to go on a nice holiday, take some time out and think about what comes next."

Adams started the bout brightly, relying on her jab and keeping her distance to pick off her French opponent with some clever blows to the body. It was patient but clever work by the British boxer and it impressed the judges, who awarded the opening round to Adams.

And round two was more of the same from Adams, with aggressive counter-punches that came in contrast to Ourahoumne occasional combinations, that were accurate but not frequent enough to impress the judges.

The second round also went to Adams and the gold was halfway in the bag.

Ourahoumne rallied and narrowly took the third round with some aggressive upper cuts and high-tempo boxing.

But Adams’ counter-punching proved to be enough and she claimed her unprecedented golden double to cement a place in the history books.

The trademark Adams smile made way for tears as she stood on the podium and glanced down at her gold medal, and the 33-year-old from Leeds revealed after the ceremony just what it meant to her.

"It’s what dreams are made of," Adams said.

"I actually started crying, I haven’t cried in so long – that just shows how much it means to me. It means everything."
