Leon Haslam tops one-team podium in British Superbike opener

Leon Haslam emerged victorious in the opening British Superbike Championship race Oulton Park on Saturday.
It was a one-team race, with the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team completely dominating the podium with James Ellison in second place ahead of Peter Hickman.
Haslam took the lead ahead of Ellison, who led after usurping Shane Byrne in the early stages, in the ninth lap.
Tommy Bridewell crashed out heavily, early on and though he was able to get to his feet, he is out of Showdown contention.
Christian Iddon also crashed out at Brittens on the ninth lap leaving him 35 points off sixth place in the standings with a maximum of 50 available in the two races on Sunday. Glenn Irwin also saw himself out of contention after a crash in the ninth lap.
