Davos course suits winner Falla down to the ground

Norway's Maiken Caspersen Falla believes the Davos course suited her perfectly as she won the 1.6km cross country sprint at the FIS World Cup in Davos, Switzerland on Sunday.

It was Falla's first victory of the season and the Olympic gold medallist maintains her Sprint World Cup lead after two second-place finishes so far this year.
On Sunday she completed the 1.6km in 2:44.63 which was 0.53 seconds ahead of Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg who finished second with Sweden's Hanna Falk third.
Teammate Oestberg trails by 70 points in the overall sprint standings after her second place finish on Sunday while Falk is 24 points further behind.
"I felt very good today. I felt my shape was good and I was able to keep the right technique." said Falla.
"The hill here in Davos fits me and I was confident I could make my move on the top but I was stiff on the way down and in the curve. I am very happy for the victory."
Oestberg, 2015 World Champion in the Team Sprint, was delighted to have surpassed her own expectations with her second-place finish.
"It is great to have the first sprint podium of the season. To win yesterday and to be second today is much more than I expected. It is a big day for me to get the yellow bib," he said.
