Canada ensured they'll go into the World Men's Curling Championships Page play-offs with their unbeaten record intact after defeating Norway in their final round-robin clash.
With ten victories already, the hosts had secured their place in the latter stages, but added a clinical edge on the ice with an 8-4 win over Norway. Skip Steffen Walstad played a double take-out to score one point and level the game at 1-1 for Norway, but it was in the next end where Canada stole the march.
Brad Gushue drew his final stone into the house to score four points and take a 5-1 lead, one which they never looked like relinquishing before eventually taking the four-point victory to set up a clash with Sweden.
"It's a solid week, I feel like we got better as the week went on. The ice has been great, we feel good, we're playing well. I think it's going to be a tough battle [against Sweden in the Page 1v2].
"I think they're a great team and they've seemed to gain some momentum as the week's gone on. Hopefully having the hammer is going to be key for us and we can get off to a good start."
Sweden also took strong form into the Page play-off with a comfortable 8-2 victory over the Netherlands.
Skip Niklas Edin drew his final stone into the house to score three points and win the game for his side, with just two defeats in the whole competition to put them one more victory away from the final.
Defeat against the hosts would not end their campaign however, with a chance to play the winner of Switzerland's Page 3v4 clash with USA.
Neither played in the final session of fixtures, though Scotland ended their week on a positive note with a 7-6 win over Russia.
They had to do it via an extra end, however, against a side who failed to pick up a win in the competition, though skip David Murdoch was left with mixed emotions come the final stone.
"We had a lot to lose so for us to show our character there was so important, that's why I'm so proud of the guys," he said.
"It was one of those games where you think you're never going to get in front. That was about getting a job done.
"To be honest, I'm feeling disappointed – I don't come to these championships not to get a medal, that's annoying for me, that's annoying for this team. We know we're better than that."
