Having demolished European champions Russia 7-1 in the early game of the day, the Scots will have gone into their crunch clash with Switzerland in a confident mood.
And after taking a 5-1 lead it looked like it would be plain sailing again, but the Swiss team led by Binia Fletcher fought back for a remarkable 7-6 extra-end win.
The result meant they now lead the competition with a 7-1 recored, leapfrogging Scotland at 7-2. who drop into second place.
But despite the result Muirhead took the loss in her stride and was satisfied with the quality of Scotland’s play heading into matches with Japan and Canada on Thursday.
“They played great. I’m actually pretty happy the way we played out there,” Muirhead said.
“I don’t think we can get too hung up on that at all. When you play a team that was shooting out the lights in those last few ends, it is hard.
“But as I said, I’m not going to get down after that at all.” Sportsbeat 2016
