Scotland stay perfect to reached Mixed Doubles Curling Championships last-16

Five wins from five had already all-but secured a place in the knockout stage for Gina Aitken and Brace Mouat, but they kept their momentum going with an 8-2 win over Denmark.

In truth it took just two ends for the real damage to be done, taking three from the first end prior to stealing two points, 5-0 to the good before closing out the win against a side with just one win from their six matches.

There remains plenty to play for in Scotland's Group B however, with Norway continuing their surge towards the second stage of the competition with a 13-2 hammering of Serbia.

That sees them join Italy with five wins and one defeat, with both teams sharing second ahead of fourth-placed Ireland, who prevailed 11-2 in the Battle of Britain against Wales.

Meanwhile Switzerland became the first team to qualify from Group E, as they put Slovenia to the sword in a 13-4 scoreline.

That was largely down to ends one and three both yielding four points in Lethbridge, as Jenny Perret and Martin Rios made it five wins from five in Canada.

It was a slightly trickier test for Russia meanwhile, though they joined Switzerland in qualifying from Group E – despite a strong second-half from New Zealand.

Russia had taken the early lead and maintained the advantage in the latter stages, with a two-point seventh end the clincher in the 8-4 win.

Meanwhile, Group A saw Hungary join table-toppers Latvia in the knockout round, stealing points in four successive rounds against Estonia to win 9-4.

That puts the 2015 champions on five wins from their seven matches, one ahead of third-placed Finland, though Latvia have yet to lose any of their seven matches in the group.

United States, hosts Canada and the Czech Republic will also see their competitions go on for a little while yet having made it through Group D, while Group C leaders Korea will join them, as do second-placed China.
