Harrogate-born Hall, 35, was competing in the long-distance bike race from Perth to Sydney when he was hit on the outskirts of Canberra on Friday.
Race officials have notified his next of kin, and called his death "a great loss to the global cycling community."
The 5,500km race – which started on March 18 – has since been cancelled.
Around 70 riders started the unsupported event, and it was expected to finish on Friday afternoon by the Sydney Opera House.
“The Indian Pacific Wheel Race has been cancelled with immediate effect in light of this morning’s tragic incident,” race organisers said, as quoted by AP.
“This is a difficult time for everyone involved, along with their families, and their wellbeing is our primary concern.”
An official investigation will now take place, with organisers confirming they “intend to undertake a detailed investigation of our own”.
