Cavendish finishes on a high in Abu Dhabi

Mark Cavendish was making up for lost time as he claimed victory on the final stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour, seeing off Giacomo Nizzolo.

Having missed the race a year ago through injury, Cavendish was itching to make amends, and did just that on the Formula One YAS Marina Circuit.
He had the pace to see off Nizzolo with another Italian, Elia Viviani, in third, while Tanel Kangert comfortably held on for the overall title.
Mark Renshaw, Cavendish's leadout man for so many years, was involved once again, although on this occasion he found himself out in the clear.
That meant Cavendish had to finish the job himself, but it proved no problem for the Manxman, who powered through for victory.
"I'm so happy to be the winner of the final stage of the Abu Dhabi Tour on the YAS Marina Circuit. There was an incredible atmosphere," Cavendish said.
"I missed the race last year because I was injured and I was really jealous of the boys racing, especially on this last day. It was very fast.
"My teammates controlled the group really well the whole day. I got an incredible lead out. Mark Renshaw was very calm going into the finale. I just had to jump."
