The UCI Pro-Tour confirmed on Monday it would not allow Giro organisers to finish with two half stages. The International Cycling Union already expressed their thoughts during the 2006 stages preparation but Giro's governing body unveiled two half stages
"It's only a proposal, not a threat" said Giro's director Angelo Zomegnan.
Riders also expressed a negative point of view regarding the system.
"Half stages require a lot of time and effort. If you take under consideration the warm-up and transfers, it would be extremely rough days for us." Said UCI Pro riders supervisor Jens Voigt.
"It' makes no sens to have half stages on the last day after three weeks of race".
The Tour of Basque Country , which runs from April 3rd to April 7th, will also have to get rid of it's semi-stages.
