Giro d’Italia 2017: Dates, times, route, odds, quotes, TV schedule, Eurosport Player offer

This year is the 100th edition of the Giro and the organisers have served up a treat, starting the race with three spectacular stages in Sardinia and finishing with an individual time trial in Monza.

And Eurosport Player will bring you every single stage of the race LIVE.

A dedicated exclusive channel for the Giro d'Italia will give you live and uninterrupted coverage of all the action on the Tour as it heads from Sardinia to the Alps throughout May.

The 2017 Giro d'Italia starts on May 5 and runs through to May 28.

After the first three stages in Sardinia, the Giro then plots a path up from the toe of Italy to the Alps.

The organisers have published an official stage-by-stage breakdown of the route, which can be accessed HERE.

The Giro takes in specatcular scenery, offers a real challenge to the world's best climbers but also gives the sprinters something to play for. It's an all-round gem of a race and gives a terrific indication of form going into the summer.

In addition to the Eurosport Player, Eurosport, every single stage of the Giro will be LIVE on Eurosport 1.

Highlights will be broadcast free-to-air on Quest every day of racing at 22:00 BST. Quest is available via Freeview Channel 37, Sky Channel 144, Virgin Media Channel 172.

Olympic Champion and esteemed sports presenter Jonathan Edwards will be the on-site host for both Eurosport's coverage of the Giro d'Italia and the coverage of July's Tour de France.

As the ‘Home of Cycling’, Eurosport is working with the biggest names in the sport for analysis and insight. These include 21-time Grand Tour stage winner Sean Kelly, former Team Sky rider Juan Antonio Flecha and former British road race champions Brian Smith, Rob Hayles and Matt Stephens. They will work alongside reporters Ashley House and Laura Meseguer conducting rider interviews before and after each stage.

Former Dimension Data general manager Smith takes on his new role as ‘The Coach’ at the Giro to guide fans through the more technical aspects of the stage as well as analysing significant attacks and exhilarating sprint finishes. Stephens and Hayles will take you to the heart of the action and bring you the atmosphere of Grand Tour racing en route as well as insights from the riders and teams.
