Although originally from Southampton, King is based in Cardiff and meets the qualification criteria for the team heading out to Australia's Gold Coast next April.
Having turned her attentions to road racing in 2015, King was left out of British Cycling's squad for the Rio Olympics last summer.
But the 26-year-old, who won Olympic team pursuit alongside Laura Kenny and Joanna Rowsell Shand in the capital five years ago, has not ruled out a return to the track in the months to come.
In 2014, one rider and one kilometre was added to the women's team pursuit in the Commonwealth Games programme, with Olympic and World champion Elinor Barker, Ciara Horne, Manon Lloyd and Amy Roberts expected to be in contention for the places on the team.
But King is open to the possibility of a return to track cycling, insisting she would grab the opportunity with both hands should it be offered.
"It is a possibility," she said. "It's still being decided at the moment.
"I think my major target would be the road, but I'd like to think I could go well in the bunch races on the back of road training and specific track training as well.
"At the moment I'm focusing on the road, but I do miss racing on the track.
"It's whether it would fit with my specific target and also whether I'd be good enough to slip into a team pursuit line-up."
