Frenchman Nacer Bouhanni won a weather-affected stage four of the Volta a Catalunya on a day which saw no change in the overall classification.
Bouhanni (Cofidis) sprinted home to claim victory after the stage was shortened by 60 kilometres because of snow at the start in Llivia.
Team Sky's Geraint Thomas remains third in the overall standings, 44 seconds behind leader Tejay van Garderen of BMC Racing.
Chris Froome is a further five seconds behind Thomas in fifth place heading into Friday's potentially pivotal fifth stage which ends in a tough climb to Lo Port.
Froome had attempted to seize the initiative when he broke away with Alejandro Valverde and Marco Soler, but was caught by the peloton 5km from the finish line.
