The Colombian, who was one of the favourites for the race, crashed out early and Quick-Step changed tack to put their efforts into Trentin.
The Italian was ably supported by team-mate Niki Terpstra who ensured that Soren Kragh Andersen was kept in check in the final sprint.

It was the perfect end to Trentin's career at Quick-Step as he prepares to move to Orica-Scott for next year.
The experienced Andre Greipel won the sprint in the chasing pack to take fourth but both he and Mark Cavendish will be disappointed that they couldn't get closer to the leaders.
