Geraint Thomas will not complete the Volta a Catalunya after withdrawing following the fourth stage of the race.
Thomas claimed victory in Paris-Nice earlier this month but admitted he was still feeling the effects of that win this week in Spain.
The Welshman had been in tenth overnight but fell down to 53rd after the 172km Baga to Port Aine stage.
Colombia's Nairo Quintana heads the race, eight seconds ahead of Spain's Alberto Contador with three stages remaining, while Thomas' Team Sky colleague Chris Froome is 46 seconds back in eighth.
Thomas tweeted: "Never good pulling out of a race but not been 100% since last week."
