The British duo were in strong form in Canada, finishing with a final point's total of 298.62, just 0.18 off securing silver.
Their highest scoring dive came in the fifth and final round as they recorded 72.96 points for their back 2? somersault 1? twists, piked.
Silver went to Malaysia's Nur Dhabitah Binti Sabri and Pandelela Pamg with Chinese divers Qian Ren and Yajie Si taking gold.
"A cheeky little bronze. A nice way to finish off this year's World Series," posted Couch on social media afterwards.
Elsewhere on Friday Grace Reid and Katherine Torrance just missed out on the medals when they placed fourth in the women's 3m synchro with Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow doing likewise in the 10m synchro.
While a dropped dive on their penultimate effort saw Jack Laugher and Chris Mears finish seventh in the 3m synchro.
