Jan Černý has vowed to be “faster and stronger” when the FIA European Rally Championship resumes in his native Czech Republic next week.
The ACCR Czech Team driver will contest Barum Czech Rally Zlín on the back of a frustrating showing on Rally Rzeszow in Poland earlier this month.

But after placing sixth in the ERC Junior Under 28 division alongside co-driver Petr Černohorský, Černý said he needed to do much better on home soil.

“For sure we wanted to be really fast [in Poland] and be on the podium but we were last,” the ŠKODA Fabia R5 driver said. “I didn’t have the right pacenotes and didn’t have the confidence with the driving because of this. Normally I love the stages like this, really nice, tricky and fast but I didn’t have the confidence. We know what the problem is and this is important.

“Now we prepare for Barum when hopefully we can be faster and stronger. Rzeszow was a really difficult rally with a lot of experience but I’m not happy with the result and we have to speak about the pacenotes for the next event with less details for sure.”

Barum Czech Rally Zlín takes place from 25-27 August.
