Cyprus ERC top-five a gift, says von Thurn und Taxis

Albert von Thurn und Taxis has admitted that he’d given up all hope of challenging for a top-five finish in the FIA European Rally Championship following his exit from fifth place on the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally at the start of June.
Young Latvian Ralfs Sirmacis has secured an incredible win on the legendary SEAJETS Acropolis Rally on his first start at the top level of the FIA European Rally Championship.

However, all that changed when the German belied his lack of experience to finish last week’s punishing Cyprus Rally in fifth overall.
“I’m so happy because the fifth place on the Acropolis was too good to be true and then it was too good to be true,” said the Wevers Sport ŠKODA driver. “I just didn’t think this opportunity would occur again this year, I thought that was it. It’s wonderful, like a present.”
