The FIA RGT Cup will include two European Rally Championship events in 2017 – meaning that grand touring cars will give fans an added treat when the ERC visits Czech Republc and Italy during the upcoming 12 months.
Barum Czech Rally Zlín and Rally di Roma Capitale, two popular all-asphalt rallies, both appear on the RGT Cup schedule for next year.
A number of different GT cars have been homologated for use in the category, with Porsche the most represented manufacturer in the competition.
Despite their high power output, RGT cars are all two-wheel drive, meaning that they cannot quite challenge the headlining R5 cars for overall honours on ERC rallies.
The 2017 ERC season begins with the Azores Airlines Rallye from 30 March-1 April.
