Filip Mareš has been handed a dream opportunity to contest the FIA ERC Junior U27 Championship in 2017.
Mareš, 25, was selected by the Autoklub Peugeot Rally Talent programme, which is organised by the Autoclub of Czech Republic and aims to support bright hopes for the future during the early stages of their career.
Along with co-driver Jan Hloušek, Mareš enjoyed a successful 2016 campaign, finishing third in the 2WD category of the Czech championship and winning the Czech Junior title. They also claimed FIA European Rally Trophy ERT3 and ERT Junior honours with support from the Autoklub of Czech Republic and Peugeot Czech Republic.
“It was a fantastic and beneficial season for all of us,” said Mareš. “We have made some valuable results and gained a lot of experience. I believe that we will continue with good results during next season and we will be closer to our set goals.”
Stanislav Kafka, the Autoklub Peugeot Rally Talent Manager, added: “During the first season we have managed to achieve almost all targets, at least in our national championship and nearby [ERT Junior]. Therefore, it is logical to move the crew in the second year of the project further. And that arena cannot be anything other than the European Junior Championship. At the same time next year, they will also participate in Czech championship."
The 2017 ERC Junior U27 Championship gets underway on the Azores Airlines Rallye from 30 March-1 April.
