Young rally drivers will continue to learn the vital skills needed to forge long-term careers in the sport through the ERC Junior Experience, which enters its second season in 2017.
Devised by ERC promoter Eurosport Events and managed by All In Motion’s Evelien Deschuytter, an expert in equipping people with the skills they need to succeed in their chosen field, the ERC Junior Experience consists of four training events held in conjunction with rounds of the ERC Junior Under 27 and ERC Junior Under 28 championships.

The curriculum covers pacenote preparation, diet, physical training, social media dos and don’ts, car set-up, first aid response, tyre changing, sponsorship acquisition and driving technique on asphalt and gravel. Participants also undertake the reconnaissance for the ERC rallies in Gran Canaria, Czech Republic, Italy and Latvia at no charge and get a free registration for the 2018 ERC Junior U27 Championship.

“We are very pleased to announce year two of the ERC Junior Experience,” said ERC Co-ordinator Jean-Baptiste Ley. “Being successful in rallying not only requires talent and dedication but knowledge of a number of vital skills, such as preparing pacenotes, handling a car on gravel and even understanding the right and wrong way to use social media. We have recruited an expert team of tutors to provide our students with a number of key attributes and learning at the early stages of their careers. The response from the ERC Junior Experience intake in year one was very positive and we can’t wait to help yet more drivers further their careers.”

Ten young drivers took part in the ERC Junior Experience in 2016, including Catie Munnings, the ERC Ladies’ Trophy winner last season. She said: “The ERC Junior Experience was amazing in teaching me all of the tips and tricks that only come with years of experience. The teachers are industry experts and very influential people and will remain great contacts to have in the future. The ERC Junior Experience took me to many of the rallies, let us recce them and then develop our styles in all aspects of the sport beyond what we could do on our own, preparing us in the best way for the coming season, as well as having a great time and enjoying the rally atmosphere with some of the most talented young drivers in Europe. Evelien Deschuytter is a fabulous co-ordinator, working tirelessly to make everything happen and make sure everyone is getting the most out of the sessions. The lessons I have learned will stay with me for the rest of my career.”

The ERC Junior Experience is open to drivers and co-drivers and more information including details of fees, registration procedure and other benefits is available from Evelien Deschuytter by emailingEvelien@allinmotion.beor by calling +32 473990342.
