FIA ERC Junior Under 28 champion Marijan Griebel tried out his third different R5 car for size on the ADAC 3-Städte-Rallye in his native Germany last weekend – and missed out on a podium by 1.8s.
Making his debut in a Team Peugeot ROMO 208 T16, Griebel was able to prove his talent but was ultimately forced to settle for fourth place at the end of an impressive season during which he has also sampled R5 machinery from Hyundai and ŠKODA.

“No question, I am happy about the successful debut in the Peugeot 208 T16 and would like to thank Peugeot Deutschland and Team Peugeot ROMO for the opportunity to compete together in the final round of the German championship,” said Griebel. “However, I would be a bad athlete if I was not annoyed that we missed the podium by just 1.8 seconds.”

Having claimed the ERC Junior U28 title on the back of three wins from four starts, Griebel said: “My conclusion is nevertheless positive. With every metre I had a better feeling for the car and I could dare to get closer to the limit. We got it together quickly, made no big mistakes, and decided to play a bit. This is only possible if you trust yourself. Therefore, a huge credit to the whole team around ROMO team boss Ronald Leschhorn and especially to my co-pilot Alex Rath, who has also done a great job.”
