Who is the ERC champion, Kajto Kajetanowicz?

So you may know that Kajto has won the FIA European Rally Championship title again this year. But here are a few other things that you may not have known about him. Firstly – ‘Kajto’ is just a nickname: his real name is the easily-remembered Kajetan Kajetanowicz.

He shot to fame driving on the Polish championship, in a Subaru Impreza. At home he managed to pick up four consecutive titles from 2010-2013 before moving onto the ERC. He’s synonymous with the Ford Fiesta R5 right now, but his first rally car was actually a diminutive Peugeot 106.
He’s also only the third-ever European Rally Champion from Poland, following in the footsteps of Sobieslaw Zasada (a three-time ERC winner in the 60s and 70s) and Krzysztof Holowczyc (who won the ERC in 1997).
What Kajto respects most in other people is hard work, and what he loves to eat most is knuckle of pork: a Polish speciality, often braised in beer and honey. When he’s not rallying – obviously the biggest love of his life – he’s a high-performance driving instructor. And you can even buy a branded mug or hoodie with Kajto’s face on it!
