Antoine Griezmann approached by PSG before signing new Atletico deal, says agent

Antoine Griezmann considered offers by other clubs - including Paris Saint-Germain - before deciding to stay on at Atletico Madrid, his agent has confirmed.

Griezmann, who joined the Rojiblancos from Real Sociedad during the summer of 2014, signed a new contract with Atleti last month committing him to the Madrid club until 2021.

The 25-year-old said at the time he was keen to “improve on last season,” and added that “the club wants to continue to improve and be a top club.”

But his agent Eric Olhats confirmed that the Euro 2016 player of the tournament and Golden Boot winner had also been contacted by PSG’s sporting director prior to deciding to stay on in Madrid.

Speaking to RMC on Tuesday, Olhats said: "There were discussions with Olivier Letang [PSG’s sporting director]. There was interest from Paris.

"After numerous discussions, and drawing a parallel a little bit with other offers, we opted for continuity."

Though he could not rule out Griezmann signing with the French team before the end of his career, he reiterated: "It's 100 percent certain that he'll be at Atletico Madrid next season.”
