Carlo Ancelotti has appointed Hermann Gerland as his new assistant at Bayern Munich following reports that his son Davide was set to replace Paul Clement, who has been linked with the vacant Swansea role.

Clement was given permission by the Bundesliga club on Monday to negotiate terms with the Swans and he is expected to be unveiled as their new manager imminently.
The club announced on Tuesday that Hermann Gerland would be returning to a role he had held at the club under Louis van Gaal, Jupp Heynckes and Pep Guardiola.
Germany's Bild newspaper had earlier suggested that Ancelotti would promote his son Davide.
The 27-year-old's relationship with the players is reported to be strong since he already has a much better grasp of the German language which his father admitted in La Gazzetta dello Sport he cannot get his head round, citing that as the only negative aspect of his first six months in charge of Bayern.
Davide previously helped his father as a fitness coach at his previous clubs Paris St Germain and Real Madrid and he is now set to be given more responsibility at Germany's record champions.
