The trophy holders failed to win their group thanks to a last-gasp 2-2 draw with Dortmund on Wednesday evening.
It means they will face one of the group winners in the last 16, which include his former club Juventus.
Zidane made over 150 appearances for the Turin-based club between 1996 and 2001 before a money-spinning move to Real.
"I am eager to avoid Juventus, but we can’t do anything about it and just have to wait and see what the draw gives us,” Zidane told Mediaset Premium.
"I don’t want to be paired with Juventus for both reasons of the heart and the fact they are a very strong team.
"Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain are great forwards, but I don’t want to compare them to my squad. Juve have their players and we have ours."
Real Madrid could also draw Arsenal, Napoli, Monaco, Leicester City or Juventus.
