Can you guess which English club has the most Champions League winners?

If somebody asked you which English club has the most Champions League winners, you'd probably opt for Manchester United, City, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool. Maybe even Spurs at a push.

And you would be wrong. Nope the answer is traditionally unfashionable Stoke City, who are on the verge of landing the former Real Madrid player Jese Rodriguez from Paris Saint-Germain.

The 24-year-old Rodriguez won the European Cup twice at Madrid in 2014 and 2016 before moving to PSG last season for around 25m Euros.

After an indifferent spell in the French capital and a loan spell at Las Palmas, Rodriguez is apparently ready to swap Paris for the Potteries having completed a medical on Monday.

Jese will bring the total of Champions League winners in Mark Hughes's squad to a whopping five.

Stoke's Champions League winners are:

• Bojan - Barcelona 2009, 2011
• Darren Fletcher - Manchester United 2008
• Xherdan Shaqiri - Bayern Munich 2013
• Ibrahim Afellay Barcelona - 2011

Chelsea 'only' have four winners - Gary Cahill, David Luiz, Pedro and Alvaro Morata.

Manchester City boast two - Yaya Toure, and Danilo. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo did not play a minute of Barcelona's success in 2015.

Manchester United have two - Juan Mata and Michael Carrick.

Arsenal have one - Petr Cech. Liverpool have one - Daniel Sturridge. Tottenham don't have one.

Fair play to Stoke. Now, when you wonder if some of football's finest can perform on a wet winter's night in Stoke, you know the answer.

Five of them already do.
