Eden Dzeko inspires Roma comeback in 3-3 thriller at Stamford Bridge

Eden Hazard scored twice as Chelsea maintained top spot in Champions League Group C after an exhilarating 3-3 draw with Roma at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues counter attacked their way into a 2-0 lead courtesy of a superb 20-yard strike from David Luiz and Hazard's first of the night.

But a dominant Roma hit back through two former Manchester City stars. Aleksandar Kolarov reduced the arrears prior to the break before Edin Dzeko netted a double to turn the game on its head. The Bosnian hitman thundered home a stunning volley and followed up with smart header to mark his 100th appearance for the visitors in style.

Chelsea had been second best for long spells, but earned a share of the spoils when Hazard nodded Pedro's cross into the corner 15 minutes from time.

It means the Blues remain top of the pool, two points clear of second-placed Roma and five ahead of Atletico Madrid, who drew 0-0 with Qarabag earlier in the day. Antonio Conte's men will now hope to make another significant step towards the last 16 when they visit Roma on October 31.

Conte's tactics prove hit and miss, before Hazard saves the day. David Luiz's ease on the ball makes him a natural option when it comes to shifting a centre back into a defensive midfield role. Chelsea's injury issues in that department somewhat forced Conte's hand, but it paid off initially as the Brazilian was in an advanced position to open the scoring.

However, Roma played with an adventurous attacking system and completely dominated the midfield, eventually overpowering the Blues' attempt to counter punch to take control of the game. Conte's tactics may not have quite worked out, and he was forced to withdraw Luiz, but he'll be delighted with Hazard's contribution. The Belgian saved the day once again when they were staring defeat in the face. It's a solid point and keeps them on track at the summit of the pool.

37' - GOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Roma. It's two - and a real blow for the visitors. Hazard pounces on a loose pass on the halfway line and bursts forward at speed. He feeds Morata whose deflected return pass sits up nicely for the Belgian to volley home.

40' - GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Roma. Kolarov prods it beyond Azpilicueta and drives into the box before seeing his rising shot deflect beyond Courtois. Roma are right back in it.

64' - GOAL! Chelsea 2-2 Roma. Dzeko levels for the visitors with a stunning left foot volley on the run after a raking pass from deep by Fazio.

70' GOAL! Chelsea 2-3 Roma. Roma lead! Dzeko is left unmarked to guide Kolarov's left-wing free kick into the far corner. What a turnaround!

75' GOAL! Chelsea 3-3 Roma. Hazard snares his second of the night guiding a flick header into the corner from Pedro's right-wing cross.

Hazard scored his first Champions League goals since March 11th 2015 vs PSG - 952 days ago.

Six of David Luiz's last seven goals for Chelsea in all competitions have come from outside the box.

This is the first time that a team managed by Antonio Conte has conceded three goals in a Champions League game.
