90+9'

That's it. Another day, another Liverpool dominance that doesn't yield three points. How the Reds didn't find that winner only they will now. Chances came and went, but again profligacy proves costly. It is the final ball that is really lacking. Qualification for the knockout stages will be no easy task, now. Thanks for joining us. Full report and reaction to follow on site. Goodnight.

90+7'

SAVE! This is getting ridiculous now. Super ball into the middle from Alexander-Arnold, Salah meets it, but heads straight at Selikhov, who throws out and arm to keep out the header.

90+6'

CHAAAANCE! Liverpool only have themselves to blame for not winning this. Firmino had the simple task of squaring for Sturridge, but his pass is woefully underhit and Selikhov gathers.

90+4'

Henderson does really well to get back and cover as Spartak tried to break. Maybe they do want to win this?

90+2'

Final change for Spartak as Samedov is literally carted off, to be replaced by Pedro Rocha.

90'

EIGHT minutes of added time here. Rebrov's injury is the cause.

89'

CHAAAANCE! The flag stays down, Sturridge is unmarked on the end of a pinpoint Moreno cross, but he volleys over the top.

87'

CHANCE! Sturridge can't get the ball down quickly enough after Firmino's knockdown, and the ball runs out of play as he stretched to shoot from close range.

85'

Great flicked pass into the path of Sturridge, but the flag is up as the England striker turned to shoot.

83'

That's the end of the game for Popov, as he limps off, to be replaced by Paraguayan Lorenzo Melgarejo.

-

Another treble as Sevilla are home and dry...

81'

CHANCE! Awful defending gifts Firmino a chance on the edge of the box, but he panics and lashes the ball over the top. Had time to pick his spot.

79'

CLOSE! From the edge of the area, Alexander-Arnold lets fly on his left foot, but the ball whizzes just wide. Just lacked accuracy.

77'

Sturridge tries to dance his way through, but is crowded out and the move breaks down.

75'

Caution for Firmino after leaving a foot in on Eshchenko. Wing-back certainly made a meal of the challenge.

73'

Another Liverpool change as Can is replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum.

72'

Game really has slowed a great deal. You feel like it is very much next goal wins.

70'

Liverpool change as Daniel Sturridge comes on to replace Mane.

-

Elsewhere Tottenham lead 3-0 in Cyprus, with Harry Kane netting a hat-trick.

67'

Finally, the cart comes on for Rebrov, and Alexander Selikhov comes on in his place.

65'

Huge blow for Spartak as Rebrov is being withdrawn through injury. Long delay as we await a stretcher.

63'

Liverpool bombarding the Spartak penalty area. Alexander-Arnold fires the ball across, but it evades everyone.

61'

Movement on both benches. Seems like changes are afoot. Game has stagnated a little..

59'

A goal is coming, surely? Liverpool doing all the pressing. They have seen 58 per cent of the ball, had ten shots at goal, but they are still being held.

57'

NO PENALTY! Brilliant pass from Mane into the path of the onrushing Salah, Giorgi Jikia steps across to block of Salah, sends the Liverpool forward tumbling, but again, nothing given.

55'

SAVE! Andrey Eshchenko drills for goal, but Karius gets everything behind it and beats the ball away.

53'

SAVE! Another good stop from Rebrov, low to his right. Coutinho's free-kick wasn't hit completely true, but still needed parrying away.

51'

It is Moreno who takes it, but Popov is up to head clear. All Liverpool early in the second half.

49'

Free-kick to Liverpool here, as Sendar Tasci is penalised for handball. Great position for Coutinho to whip the ball in.

47'

Liverpool counter at pace once again, Bocchetti brings down Can, behind the play, the referee awards Liverpool the free-kick, and cautions Bocchetti.

45'

We are back under way here in the Russian capital, with this game finely poised.

-

Across Europe...

-

It's good to have him back...

45'

That's it for the first half. Liverpool much the better side once more, but they are again not in front. Great football to watch at times, but there are defensive questions to be answered. There are more goals in this, that's for sure!

45'

CHANCE! Really should be 2-1. Liverpool have five on two, but Mane just goes too soon as Henderson played the ball across. Better options either side.

43'

Mane clips a cross to the back post, there are Liverpool shirts queuing up, but Spartak get it clear.

41'

Spartak are so, so deep. Allowing Liverpool to keep the ball with ease. Whistles from the crowd.

-

That man again...

38'

CHANCE! Great cross from Henderson, Ilya Kutepov should cut it out but misses his kick completely, which catches Firmino off guard, the ball just hits him and rolls to Rebrov.

36'

Still a tremendous noise in this arena. Hosts still very much a threat on the counter.

-

Elsewhere in the group...

34'

NO PENALTY! Salah goes tumbling in the box, claiming a push in the back, but nothing is given.

32'

Coutinho carried the ball to the edge of the area, laid it off for Mane, who threaded it back to Coutinho, first time, before the Brazilian slotted the ball high into the net. Exhilarating, attacking football. 40 goals in games involving Liverpool this season.

31'

GOOOOAAAALLL! Spartak Moscow 1-1 Liverpool. Brilliant, brilliant equaliser from Coutinho gets the Reds back on level terms.

28'

SAVE! Mane does well to carry the attack to Spartak, cuts inside, fires for goal, but Rebrov is down smartly to smother.

-

Constantly their undoing...

26'

NO GOAL! Mane heads the ball past Rebrov, but the flag is up to deny the Liverpool forward. Correct decision.

24'

Questions will be asked. Firstly there was a catalogue of errors that led to the free-kick being conceded. Secondly, the free-kick itself was very close to Karius. Should he have saved that?

23'

GOOOOOAAAALLLL! Spartak Moscow 1-0 Liverpool. Fernando fires the free-kick into the net to send the home fans into raptures.

21'

Not a great start from Can. He loses out at the touchline and his backpass is cut out by Popov. He looks to play in Adriano, but Matip clears, but Salah then leaves a foot in on Pasalic and Moscow have a free-kick.

19'

Salah is again in, but his touch lets him down and Rebrov is out quickly to gather. Liverpool really turning the screw here.

-

Will they ever learn?

16'

DOUBLE SAVE! Quick free-kick catches Spartak out, Salah is in, the angle is tight but he forces a good stop from Rebrov, but less than 30 seconds later, the Spartak stopper brilliantly denies Firmno after Mane had planted a cross right on the Brazilian's head.

14'

Salah has a snap shot at goal but it is blocked. Resulting corner causes havoc, the ball nearly finds Mane at the backpost, but Spartak push out well and survive.

12'

Brilliant one-two between Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, the young full-back volleys for goal, but drags it well wide of the far post.

10'

Sadio Mane does really well to get to the byline, tries to pull it back for Firmino, but it is blocked and cleared.

9'

Liverpool struggling to find any rhythm here. Hosts keep the ball well.

7'

Can flies into the challenge on Salvatore Bocchetti, and earns himself a yellow card. Did not need to go to ground there.

6'

Philippe Coutinho now whips a cross into the middle, but gets just too much on it, and the ball evades Roberto Firmino at the far post.

4'

Emre Can loops a cross into the middle, Spartak goalkeeper Artyom Rebrov is struggling to pick out, but the linesman raises his flag, judging the ball to have gone out of play.

2'

All the possession with Liverpool early on, as they pass the ball across this huge pitch.

-

A cauldron of noise..

1'

KICK OFF! We are under way in the magnificent Otkrytie Arena. The noise is building. Will it unsettle the visitors?

19:45

Don't expect this encounter to be a cakewalk for the wasteful men from Merseyside. Liverpool have only won one of their last seven away games in the Champions League (D3 L3) – this coming against Debrecen in November 2009 (1-0). Klopp's men had 17 more shots than their opponents Sevilla in the opening group enounter, the biggest positive differential that didn’t lead to a win on matchday one of this season’s Champions League (2-2). We are minutes away from kick off, as that famous anthem soothes the airwaves...

19:36

A repeat of this mess won't help matters...

19:33

Tonight would be the perfect moment to finally net that victory.

19:13

HEAD-TO-HEAD: Spartak Moscow and Liverpool’s only previous Champions League encounter was in the 2002/03 first group stage. Liverpool won both games 8-1 on aggregate, including a 3-1 victory in Russia. Spartak have won only two of their last 17 home games in the Champions League (D5 L10). They’ve also kept only one clean sheet in their last 18 games on home soil in the competition. They will have their workl cut out this evening to keep put this Liverpool attack.

19:10

All eyes will be on Karius tonight as Liverpool look to earn their first win of their Champions League campaign, but the Liverpool stopper showed no sign of nerves in a news conference on Monday: "I'm happy to play in this competition," said Karius on Monday. "It's something you dream of as a player, the Champions League. I expect a difficult game. It's the Champions League and this is new surroundings for a lot of us but we're ready for it."

19:05

Jurgen Klopp looks ahead to tonight's clash...

18:55

As expected, Loris Karius is back in goal for the Reds. Joe Gomez is replaced by Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back, and Sadio Mane returns to replace Gini Wijnaldum. Daniel Sturridge and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are on the bench.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Liverpool’s Champions League Group E trip to Russia to take on Spartak Moscow.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have been playing a dangerous game so far this season. Their attack has been as fluid as any, but they remain vulnerable at their core. Their 2-2 draw on their return to Europe’s elite competition last time out was a microcosm of their season in this way.

Spartak Moscow also drew their first group-stage game, earning a 1-1 draw at Maribor, but they will be without key forward Quincy Promes, who sustained a calf injury in the 2-0 win over Kuban Krasnodar in the Russian Cup last week.

Will Liverpool go all out for the win? Can their defence tighten up? I’m Pete Hall, and I will be bringing you the action, as it happens, live!
