Tianjin chairman Shu Yuhui has confirmed the club have agreed personal terms with ‘two or three’ star players – according to the Evening Standard – and while Costa’s name was not mentioned, reports suggest the Spain international has signed a pre-contract with the CSL outfit.
"The only thing I can reveal right now is that we have agreed terms with two or three stars,” Yuhui said.
"The players have no problem with the deals and their clubs are also willing to let them leave.
"The only issue that remains unresolved is reaching agreements with their respective clubs over the transfer fees."
Tianjin attempted to prise Costa away from Chelsea in January, but the Premier League leaders were determined to hold onto the player in their push for the title.
However, with two years left on his current deal at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea are said to be willing to listen to offers, with Tianjin ready to offer £76m for Costa, offering him a £570,000-a-weel deal.
Tianjin chairman has been open about the club’s attempts to sign a whole host of forwards, confirming that they are also in talks about signing Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Karim Benzema and Nikola Kalinic.
"It's safe to say we did make contact with all of those players, some of whom are still in talks with us,” Yuhui added.
"The player we buy should satisfy two requirements. First, he is suitable to the style of football we play; and second, he has the right attitude."
Regardless of whether Costa leaves Chelsea or not, the club have been heavily linked with moves for Romelu Lukaku, Alvaro Morata and Alexis Sanchez once the season is over.
