Paul Pogba again proved that he is not Manchester United's problem, despite what Michael Owen thinks, while Dundalk were the toast of Europe. Here's five truths...

Pogba is not the problem for United

Michael Owen, now famously, said prior to kick-off that he felt sorry for the other Manchester United midfielders because Paul Pogba was the big problem for the team and they had to cope with it. He was wrong, as we all know, emphatically wrong.
Fans were quick to demonstrate their outrage at Owen's criticism of the world-record signing, but the player himself delivered the most stinging riposte on the pitch with his first-half performance alone. The Frenchman produced a dominant display in the centre of the midfield and weighed in with two goals for good measure. By half-time, Owen was left to reflect on what a great and valuable contribution Pogba was providing.
It is certainly true to say that Pogba has not quite lived up to his extraordinary billing thus far after having arrived over the summer in perhaps the most-hyped transfer in memory. However, it is also true to say that he has not been the problem for United, no matter how subdued and, dare we say average, his performances have been at times. He now appears to be settling back into life at Old Trafford, and his class was abundantly on show in the dismantling of Fenerbahce.

Lingard is demanding a regular starting spot

Jose Mourinho is still settling on what combination of players functions most effectively for United in the midfield, but frankly Jesse Lingard is now demanding a regular starting berth as a result of his consistently distinguished displays.
Aside from the slightly nauseating 'dabs' with Paul Pogba, Lingard has struck up quite the chemistry with the Frenchman in midfield and provides United with a creative spark in the final third which they are often otherwise lacking.
The Englishman's rasping strike to cap off United's thrashing of Fenerbahce demonstrated his class outside the box and Mourinho is now finding that it is almost impossible to leave him out given the form that he is in.
One goal, one assist and one incredibly effective performance.

Europa League brings us wonderful mismatches

Say what you like about the Europa League - and if it's negative, it has probably already been said a thousand times - but it does bring us all some wonderfully amusing mismatches. And frankly, European football is all the better for it.
When Zenit Saint Petersburg travelled to face Dundalk of the Ireland Premier Division, fans were provided with a glorious opportunity to root for a wildly overmatched underdog. The following tweet about the County Louth side put the contest into context quite perfectly:
Even better, the plucky Dundalk took the lead at Oriel Park - a ground with a capacity of just 4,500 - in their Group D clash, delighting the world of football in the process.
But yes, sadly they ended up losing 2-1. Still, a wonderful story.

Francesco Totti must keep playing forever!

Every time Francesco Totti has been written off he comes up with an answer. Whilst there is surely a degree of nostalgia keeping him in the Roma playing squad it can only be a minor one.
Totti started against Austria Wien on Thursday evening for his 100th European appearance and he was at end to set up Stephan El-Shaarawy for his second goal of the evening. That takes Totti to four assists in three Europa League games so far.
In Serie A he has two goals and two assists in just 193 minutes of league action. Who said that football is a young man's game?
Totti and his compatriot Gianluigi Buffon show that experience is all you need to keep on mixing with the best. Keep on going Francesco!

Southampton really can beat Inter at home

Poor Southampton dominated for large spells in their match against Internazionale at the San Siro, with the hosts claiming a 1-0 victory thanks to their only shot on target in the entire match.
But Claude Puel's side need not fear. They still top the group and demonstrated that they have more than enough ability to beat the Italian giants when the reverse fixture arrives at St Mary's.
Inter stars Joao Mario, Gabigol, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Stevan Jovetic are all unavailable for the Europa League under Financial Fair Play regulations, while midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will also be missing at St Mary's after his red card at the San Siro - is that already not reason to believe?
Frank de Boer's makeshift European side showed enough heart against Southampton to suggest they can turn their disastrous start to the season round and qualify for the last 32 of the competition, but Saints fans can be very confident indeed.
